Year 7 is a very special time for students, parents and staff at Fitzharrys. As you will have seen from Joining Fitzharrys and pages 2-5 of our prospectus booklet, our transition information, we invest a great deal of time and attention to make sure that when each student joins the Fitzharrys community towards the end of Year 6 they feel happy, confident and excited about the progression to their new secondary school.
Year 7 are supported by Buddies from Year 8. These are specially trained students who are on hand to help out in those first weeks and months. They each wear a special badge to mark them out, and they form part of the warm welcome and sound support that runs throughout Fitzharrys.
Wider Learning Days are a very special feature of Fitzharrys. They take place five times a year and have included an Eco day, street dance, animation, arts and culture workshops, a trip to Oxford Brookes University, various exciting challenges and visits from former Premiership and England footballers as part of Show Racism the Red Card Day.
Year 7 culminates in our annual camp. Usually held at Youlbury, the challenges, team work and confidence building are inspirational. With the support of their House mates, students rise to the occasion and show all of the skills that make us so proud of them.
These extra experiences are just one of the ways in which students develop and demonstrate our core values of Leadership, Excellence, Ambition, Respect and No Limits and truly show that Together Everyone Achieves More.
