Dear future Fitzharrys students,
As well as feeling excited about the move to secondary school, it is perfectly natural to feel a little nervous. Here at Fitzharrys, we do lots of things to make sure that you are happy and confident about joining your great new school.
As soon as your choice is confirmed in February, I write to you individually to welcome you to Fitzharrys and to let you know about some of the things you can look forward to before you start in September.
We usually have a special transition tea where you will get to meet all the other children who will be with you at Fitzharrys. As this has not been possible due to the COVID-19 school closure, this year we held a virtual transition tea, which gave you the opportunity to get to know staff and the school site as well as the experiences of our current year 7 students via our Who's Who and FAQs slides and also three videos (Virtual Tour, Messages from Year 7 and Meet Key Staff). Links to these videos and FAQs can be found below on this webpage.
Usually I would visit you at your primary school along with Mrs Beedles-Clark, the Head of Lower School and Transition. Meeting you helps us to organise the Houses and tutor groups so we can make sure you will have some new friends right from the very start of your time at Fitzharrys. This year Mrs Beedles-Clark talked to you over the phone or video call to answer
Normally at this time of year we would be looking forward to welcoming you to Fitzharrys for Induction Day. Whilst we are disappointed that we will not be able to meet you in school in person, we are excited to provide you with the opportunity to get to know staff and experience some virtual lessons: please see the Virtual Induction Day section below.
All of this means that, come September, you will be ready to make a great start in your new school, feeling part of the Fitzharrys family from the very beginning and ready to make the most of all the great things that lie ahead.
We look forward to welcoming you to Fitzharrys.
