The Fitzharrys School Association (FSA) is Fitzharrys' equivalent of a Parent Teacher Association (PTA), which exists to raise extra funds which will be used to support the work of the school. The FSA is run by a committee of parents, carers and staff who plan social events and fun activities and to raise money to go towards new school resources and to help improve facilities.
The mission of the FSA is to raise funds to improve our children's educational opportunities and school experience. Fundraising allows Fitzharrys to continue to offer the 'extras' which are so important in a school and not covered by existing funds.
All parents/carers and staff are automatically members of the FSA and there is an open invitation to attend committee meetings. We are always very happy to welcome new faces to the committee and are very grateful for volunteers to help at events. We meet once a term to hold an FSA meeting where we talk about fundraising ideas and plan events; meetings and events will be advertised on this page as well as on the school's social media pages. The next committee meeting, originally scheduled for Tuesday 28th April at 7.30pm at the Spread Eagle pub on Northcourt Road, has been postponed in light of the government advice about social distancing regarding the coronavirus. Another meeting will be scheduled after this period of uncertainty has passed.
The committee is in need of members to help plan fundraising events and all parents, carers and staff are warmly invited to attend FSA meetings. There is no pressure to sign up to a role or lead in the organisation of a fundraiser, but all ideas and offers are welcome! The FSA committee look forward to welcoming new members to our meetings and to the team.
Each year, the Fitzharrys School Association sets a fundraising target. This year, the FSA is raising money towards developing new outside spaces which all students will have access to. The FSA will be working with the School Council and school leadership team on developing and planning these improvements and to set a target amount. Current ideas include new seating and undercover areas, outdoor gym equipment and a water fountain! We will post updates these plans as they happen. Please support all our FSA fundraisers if you can, to help us achieve this goal.
Plans are afoot for a sponsored walk, pencilled in for next year - more details to follow as we have them.
In line with government advice on social distancing, all our events are postponed until further notice. Our 200 Club monthly prize draws will continue to go ahead during this time. The FSA looks forward to returning to our fundraising events later in 2020.
This FSA would like to say a big thank you to everyone involved in supporting our Grand Christmas Raffle. It raised £2020.46, making it our most successful fundraising event yet! 50 fabulous prizes were donated by many wonderful local businesses and services, including a variety of family days out and gift vouchers. Extra special thanks to Crossland Employment Solicitors for generously sponsoring the cost of the raffle ticket printing, and to Wenn Townsend Chartered Accountants for donating the fantastic £100 top cash prize - we are very grateful to you all!
The Fitzharrys School Association primarily uses a Facebook page for communicating all our latest news on fundraising aims, activities and events to the Fitzharrys communuity. FSA Instagram and Twitter accounts have also been set up, so follow us on social media to hear all about what the FSA is working on and help us share our fundraising goals!
One of the ways the FSA raises funds for Fitzharrys School is through our 200 Club. This is essentially a school-based lottery run by the FSA Committee. Anyone over the age of 16 can buy shares in the FSA 200 Club; these cost £5 per month. Shareholders are entered into a draw every month to win a cash prize and there are 2 bonus draws each year. The size of the monthly prize money will depend on the number of shares sold, but if all 200 shares are sold, there will be 3 prizes up for grabs each month of £250, £100 & £50.
