Fitzharrys School Association

The Fitzharrys School Association (FSA) is Fitzharrys' equivalent of a Parent Teacher Association (PTA), which exists to raise extra funds which will be used to support the work of the school. The FSA is run by a friendly committee of parents, carers and staff who plan social events and fun activities to raise money to go towards new school resources and to help improve facilities.

Why do we need to raise money?

The mission of the FSA is to raise funds to improve our children's educational opportunities and school experience.  Fundraising allows Fitzharrys to continue to offer the 'extras' which are so important in a school and not covered by existing funds.

How can you get involved?

All parents, carers and staff are automatically members of the FSA and there is an open invitation to attend committee meetings. We are always very happy to welcome new faces to the committee and are very grateful for volunteers to help at events.  We meet roughly once a term to hold an FSA meeting where we talk about fundraising ideas and plan events; meetings and events will be advertised on this page as well as on social media pages.  For more information about joining the FSA or upcoming FSA events, you can contact the school's main office or send an email the FSA Secretary, Mrs Holt at

Join the FSA Committee

Before COVID-19, FSA meetings were originally held roughly once a term, in the evening at the Spread Eagle pub on Northcourt Road. Meetings have been postponed in light of the new full-lockdown. These will resume after this period of uncertainty has passed and we can begin to plan ahead more confidently.

All parents, carers and staff are warmly invited to attend FSA meetings. There is no pressure to sign up to a role or lead in the organisation of a fundraiser, but all ideas and offers are welcome!  The FSA committee look forward to welcoming you to our meetings and to the team in the future.

Fundraising Aims

Each year, the Fitzharrys School Association sets a fundraising target. The FSA is currently raising money for new outdoor furniture for every year group, as seating was identified as a key priority by students.

To this end, we have created a GoFundMe page and we initially hope to raise £2500 to invest in lots of fantastic new picnic benches and help improve outdoor spaces for our students.

As part of planning around social distancing in the current climate, students are especially encouraged to spend break and lunchtimes outdoors, and Fitzharrys School has specific areas allocated on site for each year group bubble. The FSA is helping to fund the development of these areas, and initially aims to raise enough money to purchase colourful, comfortable, social seating areas. We want to increase the amount of seating areas available within each year group bubble, making each space more inviting and accommodating for the students.

As a long-term aim, the FSA would love to buy 15 new picnic benches similar to those pictured (3 for each year group) to greatly increase the seating capacity of our outdoor spaces. Each picnic bench costs just under £500, so it would be wonderful to raise enough to buy 1 for each year group (7-11) straight away, with a view towards a spring term installation.

Normally at this time of year we would be planning fundraising events and looking forward to inviting the wider school community in to Fitzharrys, but as that can't happen this year we would be very grateful if you would considering donating here to help support the improvements for our school and our students.

From the FSA and the staff and students of Fitzharrys, thank you so much for your continued support and generosity.

The Fitzharrys School Association 200 Club

One of the ways the FSA raises funds for Fitzharrys School is through our 200 Club. This is essentially a school-based lottery run by the FSA Committee. Anyone over the age of 16 can buy shares in the FSA 200 Club; these cost £5 per month. Shareholders are entered into a draw every month to win a cash prize. The number of and size of the monthly prizes will depend on the number of shares sold, but if all 200 shares are sold, there will be 3 prizes up for grabs each month of £250, £100 & £50. Application to join the FSA 200 Club is possible at any time during the year. Please read our FSA 200 Club Application for more information.
