The Fitzharrys School Association (FSA) is Fitzharrys' equivalent of a Parent Teacher Association (PTA), which exists to raise extra funds which will be used to support the work of the school. The FSA is run by a committee of parents, carers and staff who plan social events and fun activities and to raise money to go towards new school resources and to help improve facilities.
The mission of the FSA is to raise funds to improve our children's educational opportunities and school experience. Fundraising allows Fitzharrys to continue to offer the 'extras' which are so important in a school and not covered by existing funds.
We are always happy to welcome new members to the committee and are very grateful for volunteers to help at events. We meet once a term to hold an FSA meeting where we talk about fundraising ideas and plan events; meetings and events will be advertised on this page as well as on the school's social media pages. The next committee meeting will be held on Monday 22nd July at 7.30pm, at the Spread Eagle pub on Northcourt Road. The committee is in need of members to help plan fundraising events and all parents, carers and staff are warmly invited to attend. There is no pressure to sign up to a role or lead in the organisation of a fundraiser, but all ideas and offers are welcome! The FSA committee look forward to welcoming new members to the meeting and to the team.
Each year, the Fitzharrys School Association sets a fundraising target. This year, the FSA is raising money towards developing new outside spaces which all students will have access to. The FSA will be working with the School Council and school leadership team on developing and planning these improvements and to set a target amount. Current ideas include new seating and undercover areas, outdoor gym equipment and a water fountain! We will post updates these plans as they happen. Please support all our FSA fundraisers this year to help us achieve this goal.
The Fitzharrys School Association's last fundraising event was a Giant Jumble Sale which was a great success: £887.78 was raised! Thanks to our Fitzharrys community for the truly fantastic support.
Next up is our Summer Holiday Hamper Draw, where one student in every tutor group will have the chance to win their class hamper, filled with a mouth-watering stack of tasty treats and delicious drinks perfect for summer parties. There will also be Staff and Whole School category draws, ensuring everyone has the chance to take part in all the fun. Full details on how to enter can be found in our Letters Home archive. Plans are afoot at FSA Headquarters! Currently on the table are a Sponsored Walk, a staff & parents-only Quiz Night, and a celebration event for Fitzharrys' 60th anniversary. Watch this space for more news!
One of the ways the FSA raises funds for Fitzharrys School is through our 200 Club. This is essentially a school-based lottery run by the FSA Committee. Anyone over the age of 16 can buy shares in the FSA 200 Club; these cost £5 per month. Shareholders are entered into a draw every month to win a cash prize and there are 2 bonus draws each year. The size of the monthly prize money will depend on the number of shares sold, but if all 200 shares are sold, there will be 3 prizes up for grabs each month of £250, £100 & £50.
