The Fitzharrys School Association (FSA) is Fitzharrys' equivalent of a Parent Teacher Association (PTA), which exists to raise extra funds which will be used to support the work of the school. The FSA is run by a committee of parents, carers and staff who plan social events and fun activities and to raise money to go towards new school resources and to help improve facilities.
The mission of the FSA is to raise funds to improve our children's educational opportunities and school experience. Fundraising allows Fitzharrys to continue to offer the 'extras' which are so important in a school and not covered by existing funds.
All parents/carers and staff are automatically members of the FSA and there is an open invitation to attend committee meetings. We are always very happy to welcome new faces to the committee and are very grateful for volunteers to help at events. We meet once a term to hold an FSA meeting where we talk about fundraising ideas and plan events; meetings and events will be advertised on this page as well as on the school's social media pages. For more information about joining the FSA or upcoming FSA events, you can contact the school's main office or send an email to firstname.lastname@example.org
The next committee meeting will be held on Tuesday 28th April at 7.30pm, at the Spread Eagle pub on Northcourt Road. The committee is in need of members to help plan fundraising events and all parents, carers and staff are warmly invited to attend. There is no pressure to sign up to a role or lead in the organisation of a fundraiser, but all ideas and offers are welcome! The FSA committee look forward to welcoming new members to the meeting and the team.
Each year, the Fitzharrys School Association sets a fundraising target. This year, the FSA is raising money towards developing new outside spaces which all students will have access to. The FSA will be working with the School Council and school leadership team on developing and planning these improvements and to set a target amount. Current ideas include new seating and undercover areas, outdoor gym equipment and a water fountain! We will post updates these plans as they happen. Please support all our FSA fundraisers if you can, to help us achieve this goal.
Plans are afoot for a celebration event for Fitzharrys' 60th anniversary, and a sponsored walk has been pencilled for summer 2020 or 2021 - more details to follow as we have them.
The annual FSA Giant Jumble Sale will be held this week on Sunday 26th January 2020, and any unwanted presents or pre-loved, good-condition items would be very gratefully received as donations. Please drop them into Reception marked FAO FSA. Thanks in advance for anything you are able to donate!
We also need lots of volunteers to help us set up the items in the main hall on Saturday 25th January (9.30am to lunchtime), and for the jumble sale itself on Sunday 26th January (9am to lunchtime). Volunteers are welcome to bring their children along if they are also keen to help - the more the merrier! Even if you can only help for an hour or two, please do pop along and join us - it makes a huge difference and many hands make light work!
If you can't help out, or would just prefer to come along, mooch for bargains and enjoy delicious cakes from our refreshments stall, then please bring along your friends and family and help us make this our best Jumble fundraiser yet! Parking available on site, so you can buy armfuls of goodies safe in the knowledge you won't have to carry it far!
This FSA would like to say a big thank you to everyone involved in supporting our Grand Christmas Raffle. It raised £2020.46, making it our most successful fundraising event yet! 50 fabulous prizes were donated by many wonderful local businesses and services, including a variety of family days out and gift vouchers. Extra special thanks to Crossland Employment Solicitors for generously sponsoring the cost of the raffle ticket printing, and to Wenn Townsend Chartered Accountants for donating the fantastic £100 top cash prize - we are very grateful to you all!
Huge thanks to all who supported and attended the first FSA Quiz Night on Friday 18th October. Led by our hosts with the most: Mr Browne and Mr Whitley, 14 teams battled it out over 6 fiendish rounds and culminated in the high-drama of a double tie-break! The glowing reports and fantastic feedback has been wonderful to receive and the FSA definitely intend to run another quiz the same time next year. A terrific £671 was raised.
The Fitzharrys School Association primarily uses a Facebook page for communicating all our latest news on fundraising aims, activities and events to the Fitzharrys communuity. FSA Instagram and Twitter accounts have also been set up, so follow us on social media to hear all about what the FSA is working on and help us share our fundraising goals!
One of the ways the FSA raises funds for Fitzharrys School is through our 200 Club. This is essentially a school-based lottery run by the FSA Committee. Anyone over the age of 16 can buy shares in the FSA 200 Club; these cost £5 per month. Shareholders are entered into a draw every month to win a cash prize and there are 2 bonus draws each year. The size of the monthly prize money will depend on the number of shares sold, but if all 200 shares are sold, there will be 3 prizes up for grabs each month of £250, £100 & £50. Application to join the FSA 200 Club is possible at any time during the year. Please read our FSA 200 Club Application for more information.
One FSA committee member has opened an account with Flamingo Paperie (formerly Phoenix Cards) through which you, your friends, family and everyone else you know can shop online for really lovely quality cards, wrapping paper, gift tags etc with the entire profit (20% of each order) being credited to the Fitzharrys School Association!
Order through the FSA online shop where you will get a 20% discount if you buy 10 cards or more and free delivery if you spend over £30!
Before you order, make sure you sign up to the Customer Club to get a free gift with your order. Flamingo Paperie will then send you a monthly email with offers and discounts.
The FSA unfortunately cannot take orders personally - it's actually easier to order online and you wouldn't get the freebies if we order for you.
Thank you in advance for your orders. We really hope many of you will sign up and start buying all your Christmas/occasion cards through the FSA. Please share the link far and wide so we can more quickly reach our fundraising targets.
Any questions, email Cian Stavers (FSA contact) at Fitzharryscards@gmail.com
Thanks for your support!
