Fitzharrys School Association

The Fitzharrys School Association (FSA) is Fitzharrys' equivalent of a Parent Teacher Association (PTA), which exists to raise extra funds which will be used to support the work of the school. The FSA is run by a friendly committee of parents, carers and staff who plan social events and fun activities to raise money to go towards new school resources and to help improve facilities.

Why do we need to raise money?

The mission of the FSA is to raise funds to improve our children's educational opportunities and school experience.  Fundraising allows Fitzharrys to continue to offer the 'extras' which are so important in a school and not covered by existing funds.

How can you get involved?

All parents, carers and staff are automatically members of the FSA and there is an open invitation to attend committee meetings. We are always very happy to welcome new faces to the committee and are very grateful for volunteers to help at events.  We meet roughly once a term to hold an FSA meeting where we talk about fundraising ideas and plan events; meetings and events will be advertised on this page as well as on social media pages.  For more information about joining the FSA or upcoming FSA events, you can contact the school's main office or send an email the FSA Secretary, Mrs Holt at sholt@fitzharrys.oxon.sch.uk

Join the FSA Committee

Before COVID-19, FSA meetings were originally held roughly once a term, in the evening at the Spread Eagle pub on Northcourt Road. Committee meetings have moved online to Zoom in light of current government restrictions.

The next FSA committee meeting will be the AGM in the autumn term, date and time TBC.  If you would like to attend, please register your interest with Mrs Holt, FSA Secretary at sholt@fitzharrys.oxon.sch.uk.

All parents, carers and staff are warmly invited to attend FSA meetings. There is no pressure to sign up to a role or lead in the organisation of a fundraiser, but all ideas and offers are welcome!  The FSA committee look forward to welcoming you to our meetings and to the team in the future.

Fundraising Aims

Each year, the Fitzharrys School Association sets a fundraising target. The FSA is currently raising money for new outdoor furniture for every year group, as seating was identified as a key priority by students.

To this end, we created a GoFundMe page with the aim of raising £2500 to invest in lots of fantastic new picnic benches and help improve outdoor spaces for our students.

As part of planning around social distancing in the current climate, students are especially encouraged to spend break and lunchtimes outdoors, and Fitzharrys School has specific areas allocated on site for each year group bubble. The FSA is helping to fund the development of these areas, to increase the amount of seating areas available within each year group bubble and make each space more inviting and accommodating for the students.

JUNE 2021 Update: The FSA is excited to announce the imminent arrival of 15 new picnic benches similar to those pictured (3 for each year group in 7-11) to greatly increase the seating capacity of our outdoor spaces. We gratefully thank everyone who has supprted our GoFundMe so far - thank you all!  We continue to raise money for outdoor furniture with the hope of purchasing more items in the near future. To publicise this, the FSA will be running new events and activities - watch this space!

From the FSA and the staff and students of Fitzharrys, thank you so much for your continued support and generosity.

The Fitzharrys School Association 200 Club

The FSA 200 Club is a monthly lottery draw that is run by the Fitzharrys School Association (FSA) to raise money for Fitzharrys School, particularly for larger projects which will benefit the greatest number of students.

Application to join the FSA 200 Club lottery is possible at any time of the academic year. Anyone over the age of 18 can buy shares. Each share is sold at £5.00 per month, payable by Standing Order.

The size of the prize money awarded will depend on the number of shares sold, but if all 200 shares are sold, there will be 3 prizes each month of £250, £100 & £50. The total prize money will equate to 40% of the total monthly 200 Club income. 55% of the income goes to the FSA and 5% assigned to administration costs.

Please note: monthly prizes will be reduced proportionately and in line with the percentages indicated when the total number of shares sold is fewer than 200. When the total number of shares sold is less than 100, prize money will be split into two prizes only. First prize will be 25% of the 200 Club monthly income, and second prize will be 15%. This still equates to 40% of the total monthly 200 Club income.

Please read our FSA 200 Club Application for more information.
